For establishments with fewer than 20 employees, both employee and employer rate is 10%. EPS contribution is always capped at the ₹15,000 wage ceiling regardless of actual salary.
Key Rules
Mandatory coverage: establishments with 20+ employees. Once enrolled, coverage is permanent regardless of salary increases.
Voluntary: employees earning above ₹15,000 basic who have never been EPF members can opt out at joining.
Interest: calculated monthly on running balance, credited annually on 31 March. Taxable on contributions above ₹2.5 lakh/year.
